Opening Times

Taste of Melbourne operates like a restaurant with a lunch and dinner service. A Taste Session lasts for 4-5 hours (session dependent) to give you time to enjoy your pick of restaurant dishes, browse the artisan stalls, enjoy some of the many attractions and relax to live entertainment. Tickets are sold for each session and are only valid for the time and date indicated on the ticket.

Ticket Information

Ticketek applies a payment processing fee of 1.95% to all purchases made by credit or debit card. This payment processing fee is included and reflected in the ticket prices listed above and on the Ticketek website. A payment processing fee does not apply for purchases made through Ticketek agents or outlets or onsite at the festival box office when using cash, or when redeeming a Ticketek Gift Voucher.

Festival Currency

Crowns are the official currency of Taste of melbourne used to purchase tasting dishes and drinks at the festival.

1 Crown = 1 Dollar

If you wish to purchase beverages and dishes from the restaurants and bars at Taste of Melbourne in partnership with Electrolux, you must use a Crown Card for transactions.  Exhibitors will accept cash, debit or credit for products to take home. Crowns can be purchased online at the time of your ticket purchase or onsite at the festival via Crown Banks and roaming Crown sellers. Silver and Gold Crown tickets and Platinum Passes come with Crowns included, allowing you to arrive ready to sip, sample and shop with no delays!

How Many Should I Buy?

Tasting size dishes from the restaurants are priced from 6-12 Crowns (excludes Icon Dishes), with drinks from 6 Crowns. The servings are tapas sized allowing you to create your ultimate tasting menu from a variety of restaurants!

To sample a few tasting dishes, take part in a masterclass and enjoy live chef demonstrations, we reccomend you begin your tasting journey with 30-50 Crowns. You can top up your Crown Card during the festival with any amount you like,  just pop by a Crown Bank or a roaming Crown seller dressed in hot pink!

The Crown Card Bond Initiative

In an effort to decrease the festival’s Carbon Footprint, we have put in place a Crown Card Bond. It is our hope that by putting a bond on each Crown Card, visitors will return their cards for a refund at the festival and allow us to reuse the Crown Cards at Taste Festivals around Australia.

A $1 bond is applied to every Crown Card upon purchasing. This bond will be refunded at any Crown Bank upon returning your Crown Card at the festival. This bond is only charged during the initial Crown Card purchase. You will not be charged a bond for subsequent Crown top ups on your Crown card during the festival.

Can I refund my unspent crowns?

You can now enjoy Taste to the very last bite with full refunds available on any Crowns unspent on your Crown Card. Simply visit the designated refund point onsite at the festival to receive a full refund on your unspent Crowns.

Refunds can only be given at Taste of Melbourne, refunds cannot be processed once the festival ends on Sunday 15th November.

Taste of Melbourne will not be responsible for lost or stolen Crowns.

Customers who select Venue/City Box Office Collection for Crown Cards, Platinum Pass and Entry & Crown Card tickets, please note that tickets can be collected on the day of the event at the event venue or, prior to the event at designated collection points. Tickets and their inclusions will be available at the following locations once released prior to the event:

FAQs

How do I get to Pelican Lawn, Albert Park?
It is easy to get to Taste of Melbourne by public transport, car, bike or foot. We advise you to plan your journey in advance using Journey Planner.

Where do I buy tickets?
Tickets can be bought via Ticketek (132 849) in advance or at the Box Office on the day. Silver and Gold Crown tickets are only available to purchase in advance.

What are the event opening times?
Taste of Melbourne takes place over 6 sessions across 4 days (12-15 November 2015). Please refer to ‘Opening Times’ on the Tickets and Info page for session times.

What are Crowns?
Crowns are the official currency of Taste of Melbourne $1 = 1 Crown.

Does everyone accept Crowns?
Crowns are used to buy food and drinks from all restaurants, exhibitors and bars. Crowns can be purchased in advance via Ticketek or from any of the Crown Banks or roving Crown sellers onsite. Cash can be used to buy produce for off-site consumption from exhibitors.

Will I be able to exchange any spare Crowns at the end of the event?
You can now enjoy Taste to the very last bite with full refunds available on any Crowns unspent on your Crown Card. Simply visit the designated refund point onsite at the festival to get a full refund on any leftover Crowns.
Taste of Melbourne will not be responsible for lost or stolen Crowns.

How much are each of the dishes at the restaurants?
The average dish at Taste of Melbourne is 6-12 Crowns. Restaurant’s ‘Icon Dishes’ may be priced between 15-25 Crowns.

Will there be ATM facilities on site?
No. Although all Crown banks and roaming crown sellers accept eftpos/credit card.

Will the event be affected by unfortunate weather circumstances?
Unless advised by the local authority, the event will go ahead despite any weather circumstances. So hail, rain or shine, Taste will thrive no matter what!

As this is an outdoor festival, please wear appropriate footwear as weather conditions may vary throughout. Should the weather turn for the worst, there are many covered marquee areas at the show. Wet weather ponchos will be readily available and free at the event should the weather turn very bad.

Brand Events Australia reserve the right to cancel or change event dates, time, line up and venue as required. Tickets purchased to the festival are non-refundable. Alternative dates and times may be issued to ticket holders at the discretion and decision of the organisers

Do children under 5 require a ticket to attend?
No, but proof of identification may be required.

Are there any age limits?
No! Everyone and anyone is welcome.

Can I bring my own food and/or drink?
No food will be permitted into the site premises. Only bottled water will be allowed.

Is smoking permitted on site?
There is no smoking onsite at Taste of Melbourne, it is a smoke-free venue.

Is the site wheelchair friendly?
Yes it is.

Are pets allowed?
Only guide dogs will be permitted on site. No pets allowed.

Patrons entering the site consent that Brand Events and third parties authorised by Brand Events may make or record film, photographs or other forms of moving picture, still picture or any of them of the event (including, without limitation, of patrons) for the use of media and promotions.

Responsible Service of Alcohol

Taste Festivals Australia can refuse to serve you alcohol if security believe that you are ‘intoxicated’. We will assume you are ‘intoxicated’ if:

  • Your speech, balance, co-ordination or behaviour is affected; and
  • It is reasonable to believe you are intoxicated

Taste Festivals Australia or a police officer can refuse you entry,  or ask you to leave, if they think you:

  • Are likely to cause injury to anyone else or damage property, or otherwise cause risk to public safety; or
  • Are disorderly;
  • Are in a non-smoking area; or
  • Have drugs on you
